Sky Glass??
*waves*

I’m on the old sky package, pre-Sky Q, not much recording space, only two recordings at a time etc…have been told I can’t have Q due to health & safety/where my dish is (long story).

So…is this Sky Glass thing worth it? No dish required and all the benefits of Q at what doesn’t seem a lot more than I’m currently paying. Not sure how big it is, my screen is 50in-ish.

Oh and I did wipe my knob on the old box but it didn’t help.

No, unfortunately you would need to pay two subscriptions

Re: Sky Glass??
Question,

If you have a dish and pay a SKY subscription in one house, can you buy a glass tv and watch the same account in another house? without a dish?

Not that I have two houses btw lol

Evetything I've read with regard to Glass/Stream suggests it's dogshit.

Could the dish not be fixed to a pole (Not H&P)?

No access to the roof required.

Re: Sky Glass??
There’s very little chance an engineer would risk their job for a ‘drink’ these days.

H&S is huge at Sky and many staff have been dismissed for not following procedures.

How high is the flat roof from ground level ?
How far is the dish from the edge of the flat roof?
What is the dish attached to?

Cheers for the replies. I did have Q on order but the engineer bowled up and said new health and safety rules meant he wasn’t allowed on a flat roof. Absolute shambles to be honest, it’s a piece of piss to put a ladder up and get on there

Sounds like a right jobs worth Grumps son... next time you see a SKY van have a word with the engineer and see if they will do it on the side for a `drink'.... normally they are very open in doing odd jobs not booked in.

Re: Sky Glass??
As On The Ball said, Sky have a Special Access Team that can probably access the dish, the previous engineer should have escalated this to them on site.

I know it’s a pain, but probably worth calling up again to discuss this.

I bet the engineer was Skerrit?

Re: Sky Glass??
They have specific engineers for heights, call them and see if they have them for flat roofers.

Re: Sky Glass??
GD,

Do you have a 10 foot barge pole? if so use that to not touch it. The fact Sky are practically giving them away tells you its shite. It has no live TV so you are practically your own programme scheduler, so no ability to record. you can't even use Freeview through it, Sky only allow it if they have a problem and cannot stream anything to your screen. If you choose to leave Sky I do not think you'd be able to connect a Virgin or BT TV box to it and use it like a TV.

Don't let that get in the way of him shoehorning his MATES into a post, Niblets son.

Better off getting one of those dodgy sticks that give you all the channels for £80 a year.

Re: Sky Glass??
Dump… just give them a ring and say that you are threatening to leave… you’ll get a discount on what you are currently paying and they will upgrade you with a brand new Q box FoC… done it with myself and load of others I know… including some of my MATES…

Got it when it first came out. Had it on for an hour and packed it back up and sent it back.
Absolute shit.
Picture quality is nowhere near as good as my tv which was a top of the range one 6 years ago plus you get a bit of motion blur with it.
Good idea done on the cheap.

Re: Sky Glass??
The picture quality in UHD on Sky Stream is better than Sky Q, but, as Niblets says, the delay versus live can be ridiculous - up to 2 minutes.

Will stick with Q as I like to be able to record stuff still, but fully appreciate I’m an old dinosaur and will have to adapt when that option goes away.

Also, nod to Eerie for that gag

Re: Sky Glass??
Forget that last question - they would have offered an alternative if possible.

I would recommend getting Sky Stream as it is only a rolling 30 day contract and you can keep your existing TV

Re: Sky Glass??
You can’t record on Sky Glass it streams directly like Netflix/Amazon etc…

Is there anywhere your dish can be moved to? Or are you on a Communal system? (Shared dish)
